Altasciences says formulation, manufacturing and quality work it performed for 4B Healthcare has moved RhineX, an investigational steroid nasal irrigation rinse, toward clinical testing. In a release dated September 24, the development partner said 4B can proceed with testing under an investigational new drug application. The specific regulatory status was not independently confirmed by FDA in the sources reviewed.
First subject dosing is planned for October 2026, according to the release. Altasciences says the proposed Phase I study will take place at its Los Angeles site, with support from its Greater Montréal laboratory. The announcement reports no first dose, safety findings or treatment results.
The release identifies otolaryngologist Brannon Mangus, MD, as 4B’s co-founder and CEO. 4B is developing RhineX for allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis. Permission to begin an investigation is distinct from approval to market a treatment; whether RhineX is safe or effective for either condition remains to be determined.
A clinician-founded ENT drug program is moving from formulation toward its first human study. The clinical question remains open until results are available.
